Sources and Updates
Sources and Updates
SNAP Estimate is designed to be transparent about the public sources used for calculator rules, source notes, state application resources, and benefit estimate explanations.
Main Official Sources
How Sources Are Used
SNAP Estimate uses official public sources to support calculator rules, result notes, document checklist guidance, state application resources, and user-facing explanations.
When state-specific information is needed, the preferred source is an official federal or state agency page. The USDA SNAP State Directory is used as a reliable official gateway to state SNAP application and contact resources.
Update Process
Federal rule updates
Federal SNAP amounts and standards are reviewed when USDA publishes new cost-of-living adjustment information or eligibility guidance.
State resource updates
State application links and directory resources are reviewed against official federal or state sources when state pages are created or updated.
Correction requests
Users may report possible corrections through the contact page. Reported issues should be reviewed against official sources before changes are made.

Important Limits
SNAP Estimate is not a substitute for applying through your state SNAP agency. State agencies may use additional rules, request verification, review special household circumstances, or apply state-specific procedures that an estimate tool cannot fully capture.
If your result is close, uncertain, or affected by student rules, work requirements, immigration status, elderly or disabled household rules, medical expenses, homelessness, or mixed household details, you may still want to apply or contact an official SNAP office.
