What SNAP Estimate is
SNAP Estimate is an independent, free educational tool that helps U.S. households understand the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program: how eligibility works, what the FY 2026 income limits and benefit amounts are, and roughly how much a household might receive before deciding to apply.
What it is not
This site is not affiliated with USDA, the Food and Nutrition Service, or any state agency. It cannot submit, approve, or deny applications, and its results are unofficial estimates — not benefit decisions.
How we keep numbers accurate
Every table comes from official USDA publications and every state fact links to an official agency source. Our full methodology and update schedule is on the How It Works page.
Editorial and data policy
- Official sources only. Every dollar figure traces to a USDA publication or a state agency document. When we cannot verify a value from an official source — as with some states’ utility allowances — we say so on the page and use a conservative fallback rather than an estimate from a third-party site.
- Tested before published. More than 300 automated checks compare the calculator’s output against official worked examples and tables on every update. A separate audit verifies every page for depth, working links, and uniqueness before the site can be rebuilt.
- Dated and maintained. Pages carry their last-review date, tables are re-verified every October when USDA publishes the annual COLA, and state links are re-checked quarterly.
- Corrections welcome. Errors reported to contact@getsnapestimate.com are prioritized over all other work, and material fixes update the page's review date.
- No tracking of your situation. The calculator runs entirely in your browser; we never see, store, or sell what you enter. There are no accounts and no lead forms — this site does not monetize your personal information.
